Jerald Mefferd
MD, FAAP

Dr. Jerald ‘Jay’ Mefferd has lived all over the Southeast, but spent his formative years a little north of Tampa in Florida. He attended the University of South Florida, in Tampa, and received a BS in Economics, working several years in logistics/analytics. Family circumstances prompted him to consider medicine as a calling. He went to Medical School at the University of Mississippi graduating in 2015, as well as completing his residency there in 2018. However, upon completion of his residency, he and his wife, Katie, moved to Dallas and he fell in love with the city. He joined Pediatricians of Dallas in 2022.

He is a member of the Texas and National Chapters of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and is a Board-Certified Fellow in Pediatrics. He was extremely active in leadership positions while in medical school and during residency. Dr. Mefferd enjoys spending time with his wife Katie, who is also a physician whose fellowship in Dermatopathology from 2018 to 2019 at Propath/UTSW was the antecedent for their family moving to Dallas, as well as their son, Christopher. He enjoys sports, college football and soccer, and is an avid reader.
