It’s Cold and Flu Season!
It's that time of year again! Yes it is Christmas, but it is also the cough, cold & flu season. If your family is anything like mine, it's a hard time of the year! In the past month alone, we had flu, ear infection & tummy bug! Because I understand how hard this season can be, I also understand the importance of our ensuring that your families have good access to excellent health care. Our practice has implemented several strategies to make ourselves available to you when that fever happens in the middle of the night or that ear pain starts Sunday morning!

The newborn period can be an overwhelming time for many of us. Sleepless nights along with post partum hormones challenge our ability to fully embrace our new little miracle.
Spring Break Fun!
The staff at POD looks forward to Spring Break every year. In years past, this generally marks the end to the cold and flu season! (We're not so sure this year.) But with half the doctors out of town, it was time for the staff to have some fun! If you were here for a visit, you might have seen a super hero, a Disney character or two, and a hula hoop contest. With the relaxed atmosphere, it was a much needed break for the staff.

One of the most common questions we get around the holidays is regarding traveling with children. We know that traveling is a wonderful opportunity for children. Whether it involves spending time with extended family, visiting new places, or learning about different cultures, travel can enrich the lives of our children. If you go into any local convenience or grocery store, chances are you will see the shelves stocked with various sorts of energy drinks all with claims to boost your energy, help you stay awake longer, help you perform better..... If you turn the label to look at the contents, they are mostly sugar and water and very large doses of caffeine (up to 3 times the amount found in colas) and other additives like taurine, guarana, L-carnitine, ginseng, and yohimbe. Many of these energy drinks' advertisement and marketing are directed at adolescents and kids. The biggest question is are these energy drinks safe for our children and teens?

You would think sending a bill to the insurance company would be simple. The doctor sees the patient then submits the bill and the insurance company sends a check. If only it was that easy. Billing is complicated. Insurance companies speak in codes. If you don't submit the correct code on the claim, it doesn't get paid.
