As of January 1st, 2021, POD is no longer contracted with Children’s Health. We are using a new service and must now charge our patients an after hours call fee, since we are charged for our after hours RN’s. As always, there is zero charge during regular business hours.

Report Cards Are Coming

Your child’s first report card or a recent parent-teacher conference may suggest a need for further discussion. If your child is struggling academically, POD wants to support their educational success. We have a diagnostic team available to meet with you and your child to discuss their educational challenges related to reading, writing, math as well as inattention or hyperactivity. A full psychoeducational evaluation or re-evaluation is available through our office. To schedule an initial consult, call 214-691-3535 x228.

Time for Your Child’s Well Visit

Has your child had their yearly check up? If not, call and schedule now. Summer is a great time for school age children to have a well visit. If you have a camp or school form, bring it with you. We can get it completed and you’ll have one less thing to do before the next school year starts.

Resources

There is so much information available on the web. It is hard to know what is reliable. Listed below are resources and links we recommend:

After Hours

Your child is sick and the office is closed. What should you do? Call us first. Most illnesses can safely wait until the following day, and our nurse advice line can help you decide. This line is answered by registered nurses who use the same triage protocols that we use in the office.

Think your child needs to be seen before the office opens?

Although it's tempting to go to a neighborhood urgent care center, many are staffed with adult doctors or nurses who are unfamiliar with childhood illnesses. Your best option is to call the nurse advice line. The nurse can refer you to one of our preferred facilities that are pediatric focused.

What about the ER?

If you are referred to the emergency room, our choice is Children's Medical Center, where we are on staff and have teaching responsibilities. The afterhours nurse will call ahead and alert the doctor on call.

You can reach the after hours nurse advice line at 844-990-3616.

Pediatricians of Dallas offers testing for the following areas: learning disabilities and dyslexia, ADHD, language testing, kindergarten and first grade readiness, assessment of autism spectrum disorders and Aspergers' syndrome, and psychological evaluations.
